Azeem has been smoke-free for four months after 55 years of smoking 20-30 a day!

He decided to quit because his breathing was getting bad and his chest ached, plus he wasn’t enjoying his food. He accessed the stop smoking service at a clinic in his local GP practice.

Azeem said:

“I would have liked to quit on my own, but lacked will power, I saw an advert for the service. My advisor Helen Kenny explained the available treatments, I tried a couple of options and we found a solution.”

He has the following tips for other smokers trying to quit:

“It’s not just willpower, it’s determination. If you think of the benefits it will help. I hope that I can help others to quit too when they see that it’s possible for me to quit after 55 years of heavy smoking. Since I have quit, my breathing is much clearer, food tastes better, people say that I look healthier. I regret the first day I ever put a cigarette in my mouth.”
